Saudi Arabia launches a new tournament for women

 

  Today, Wednesday, the Saudi Football Association announced the launch of a new tournament in the women's football competition system, namely the Saudi Women's Federation Cup 2023/24.

The Football Association announced on its official website that 16 clubs will take part in the new competition, which starts next November and is divided into two stages.

The first tier includes the Premier League clubs Al-Nasr, Al-Hilal, Al-Shabab, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahly, Shoal Al-Sharqiya, Al-Riyadh and Al-Qadisiyah and the second tier, the clubs of the first league, namely Al-Bairaq, Jeddah, Najmah Jeddah, Ittihad Al-Nusur, Al-Himma, Falcons of the West and Sahm. , Hope.

The new tournament will be played in a knockout system and begins in the quarterfinals.

The Saudi federation announced the financial prizes for the Saudi Women's Federation Cup, in which the cup winner will receive 750,000 Saudi riyals, the second place will receive half a million riyals and the third place will receive 200,000 riyals.

The Saudi Arabian Women's Federation Cup will be the third competition in the women's football system in Saudi Arabia, after the Premier League and the First Division League.

The Football Association is preparing to start the U17 Women's League competition later.
 

FIFA reviews the development of Saudi women’s football 

At the first session of the 2023 FIFA Women's Football Conference in Sydney, Saudi Arabia had ample space to highlight its efforts to expand women's football in the Kingdom.

The International Football Association (FIFA) held its own conference for women's football on Friday, separate from the hosting of the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which is coming to an end.

A session titled “Education and Empowerment” was attended by Lamia Bin Bahyan, Vice President of the Saudi Football Federation, from Saudi Arabia to talk about the experience of introducing women’s football in her country.

Lamia Bin Bahyan pointed to the beginnings of women's football in Saudi Arabia in 2007, albeit with community competitions that lacked professionalism but were endowed with the passion of this generation's players to continue growing until they reach the stage of professionalism achieved governance with the official clubs.

At the conference I confirmed that Saudi Arabia now has a women's league for the Premier League and First Division and that they have managed to establish a women's team alongside the first team that played multiple international matches.

The Vice President of the Saudi Association concluded her speech by emphasizing that many Saudi players followed the matches of the 2023 Women's World Cup and had the ambition to achieve success and excellence in their sporting careers.

It should be noted that Saudi women's football left its mark at the 2023 Women's World Cup, as striker Ibtisam Jaradi participated with her country's Moroccan team, becoming the first player in the Saudi league to do so as a player of the Al-Ahli club took part in the World Cup.
 

Saudi Arabia allocates two million riyals to the women’s league champion 

The women's football department of the Saudi Football Federation announced today, Wednesday, the official start date of the competitions for the new season of the Saudi Women's Premier League 2023/24.

The government released the official statement through its official Twitter account that October 13 will be the start date for the new season of the Women's Premier League, which will feature last season's champions Al-Nasr and runners-up Al-Hilal will, Al-Shabab, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahly and Shula Al-Sharqiya.

In addition to the promoted teams from the first division, there is Al-Riyadh Club, last season's champions, and Al-Qadisiyah Club, which took over Al-Muttahed Club, the league's runners-up, leaving the eight clubs competing for the premiership will be league title that ends on April 26th next year, 2024.

The government announced that the Women's Premier League champion will receive two million Saudi riyals, the runner-up will receive one million riyals and the third place will receive 600,000 riyals.
